The Importance of the Role of Vitamin D in Body Defenses against Infection.
Evidence shows that after obtaining sufficient supply of Vitamin D, there is a modest reduction in the risk for lung infections, mainly from upper respiratory tract infections. That is as a result of vitamin D boosting up of our body defenses against infection.
Moreover, this reduction in the risk appears to be very pronounced at times. That is especially when vitamin D levels in their bodies are very low.
Also, as evidences show, people who have sufficient vitamin D in their bodies see a modestly lower rate of contracting pneumonia and influenza. However, more research is needed to prove this to be true ( on higher confidence levels if needed ).
